Course
Course 7.5 credits • SVEM22
The course builds on the knowledge and skills the student has acquired in grammar courses at a lower level. It introduces the view on language implicit in modern generative grammar and the tools and methods of analysis it applies. These are compared to those of traditional and functional grammar. Focus is placed on the Swedish language, but a contrastive approach is also taken. The course takes up generative aspects of language acquisition, language learning and language attrition. The course develops the student s ability to read and summarise scholarly articles in the field of generative grammar, to popularise the foundations of modern grammar and to analyse specific grammatical problems using the tools of analysis of modern generative grammar.
