Course
Course 7.5 credits • SVEH14
The Centre for Languages and Literature is offering all international students the opportunity to learn some Swedish. The course runs with halftime course load.
The course is structured in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). The teaching aims to provide the students with the knowledge and skills required to achieve language proficiency in Swedish equivalent to level B1:2. The course consists of teaching and practical exercises dealing with Swedish vocabulary, pronunciation and sentence structure. Furthermore, text study and oral exercises are included.
Requirements
The course requires basic eligibility for university studies, with the exception of Swedish plus a grade of Pass from the course SVEH13 or equal. If the latter, make sure to upload proof of your Swedish level, for validation, together with your application. To show that you fulfill the requirements, you need to send in your Higher secondary school diploma and transcript. You may also need to send in proof of proficiency in English (corresponding to English course 6 in the Swedish upper secondary school) by means of an internationally recognised test, e.g. TOEFL, IELTS or the equivalent. Read more on the admission website www.universityadmissions.se.
This is a distance learning course using the learning platform Canvas, with online lectures over Zoom. You need access to a computer with internet connection, webcam, and a headset throughout the semester.
The course has an online invigilator monitored exam. During the exam, you must ensure that you have a stable internet connection, a webcam, a microphone, and speakers (headset or earbuds are not allowed during exams). You must also have access to an additional device (preferably a smartphone) with a camera and access to the Zoom app as well as an app for scanning documents. Tuition fee
There are no tuition fees for citizens of the European Union (EU), the European Economic Area (EEA) and Switzerland. Citizens of a country outside of the European Union (EU), the European Economic Area (EEA) and Switzerland are required to pay tuition fees. If you are required to pay tuition fees, you are generally also required to pay an application fee of SEK 900 (approximately EUR 100) when you apply. If you are registered for a course or programme in Sweden when you submit your application, you are not required to pay an application fee; however, registration status does not exempt students from paying tuition fees and, as such, you may still be required to pay them.
