The student develops his/her oral and written proficiency through, for example, discussions, short speeches, written assignments etc. The ability to conduct him/herself in various communicative situations is practised so that the student, in a comprehensible and structured manner, can give a written and oral account of a text which he/she has either read or listened to. The features particular to Swedish grammar and the Swedish phonetic system are systematically discussed through training in proficiency. In addition, Swedish life and institutions are discussed and the course gives insight into contemporary Swedish literature. The student builds up his/her receptive and productive lexicon through the reading of texts. Pronunciation is practised using, among other methods, computer-based language programmes, where emphasis is placed on prosody.

Admission Requirements

För tillträde till kursen krävs SVE E04 Svenska för utbytesstudenter, nivå 4 eller motsvarande kunskaper.

To be eligible for the course requires the successful
completion of SVE E04 Swedish for Exchange Students 4, or
the equivalent.
