The course builds on the knowledge and skills the student has acquired previously. By analysing authentic spoken and written texts, an in-depth level of analysis is reached. Traditional grammar is kept in focus, and the tools of analysis used are problematised and discussed. Focus is placed on the Swedish language, but a contrastive approach is also taken. Didactic aspects of grammar and the teaching of grammar are dealt with for both the school subjects Swedish and Swedish as a Second Language. Generative grammar is also introduced. The student applies his/her knowledge in the execution of a written scholarly report which is later discussed at a seminar.

Admission Requirements

Grundläggande samt SVEA01 eller genomgången kurs på grundnivå som innefattar grammatik.

To be eligible for the course requires the completion of
courses at foundation level, which include Swedish Grammar.
