Course 7.5 credits • SEMB01
Semiotics is the systematic study of meaning in experience, thought and in communication. The course presents an overview of different approaches to semiotics, from the classics Peirce and Saussure, to present days. Empirically, the focus is on three areas of investigation: meaning in language, gestures and pictures, as well as their integration in multimodal communication. Students will have the opportunity to practice semiotic analysis on specific material.
