The course provides knowledge and understanding of both modern and old Icelandic, and also basic knowledge of the history and culture of Iceland. This involves a study of the language structure of both old and modern Icelandic. The student reads and translates both contemporary and early texts, and writes texts in simple modern Icelandic. In addition, various aspects of Iceland s history and culture are discussed, including literature.

To be eligible for the course requires the basic eligibility for
study at universities and university colleges in Sweden and
Swedish B.
