This course gives you an overview of current theories of language processing, interconnecting them with analyses of empirical data. The course also includes models of language perception, that is, models which explain how we listen and read, as well as models of language production, that is, models which explain how we talk and write. Within the course, various models and methods are compared to each other, with the overarching aim to provide a comprehensive understanding of language processing, and in addition show how the models have evolved in a broader theoretical and methodological context.
Wihtin the course, there are also laboratory sessions, in which the students practise the analysis of empirical material from the perspective of different language processing models. Major emphasis is placed on the ability to assess different methods in relation to different research questions and empirical data.

Eligibility:
Students must have 90 credits, of which at least 60 credits must be in a language or linguistics (general linguistics or phonetics), and English 6, or equivalent.
