Course 7.5 credits • FIVA07
Film Culture: Festivals, Criticism, Society.
European films are screened, promoted and discussed within a broad variety of cultural contexts. In this course, the focus lies on contemporary film culture, particularly foregrounding two topical areas. On the one hand, the growing importance of film festivals. On the other hand, the evolving forms and arenas for criticism and public conversations about film and moving images. Both areas are discussed within the broader framework of film's relation to society, including its political and economic conditions.
