The course deals with the historical background of recent political developments in the geographical territory of Kurdistan. The study of the historical development focuses on the Ottoman period and the nation-building process following World War I and the consequences of this process for Kurdistan.
One of the most important and crucial consequences was the division of Kurdistan into several Middle Eastern countries.
The course addresses the issue of the Kurds in these different countries, emphasising the variations in the complex development trajectories that have characterised the political development of Kurdistan in the last 100 years
