The course consists of the study of texts with focus on everyday situations and Arab culture using a continuously extended vocabulary. The course provides the students with active training in their ability to understand and use Arabic in various contexts and to read and write texts of varying nature, in which grammar is practiced. Current gender and ethnicity related issues of the Arab world are discussed on the basis of Arabic texts. Emphasis is on written and oral proficiency, listening and reading comprehension and translation from and to Arabic. The course focuses on further developing the student s ability to communicate in moderately difficult, everyday situations.
