The course deals with the elements of basic Arabic grammar not previously covered and the student is given the opportunity to review and practice the grammatical elements covered in ARAB01. The course includes the reading of moderately difficult non-fiction texts. The course also actively trains the student’s ability to read, understand and translate texts from Arabic. The use of Arabic dictionaries is practiced. The course also consists of oral exercises and everyday situations using a gradually expanding vocabulary (approx. 1,500 words). The course provides the students with active training in their ability to understand and use Arabic in various contexts and to read and write simple texts of a varying nature. Written and oral proficiency, writing ability and reading comprehension are considered as important as translation from and to Arabic. The course focuses on developing the student’s ability to communicate in simple and useful situations.
