Speaker: Victor Bogren Svensson (SOL) Title: (Anti-)Causative Alternations in Takituduh Bunun

Abstract:

I present new data regarding (anti-)causative alternations (cf. 'I broke the plate' and 'The plate broke') in Takituduh Bunun (Austronesian: Taiwan). Takituduh Bunun exhibits a range of morphosyntactic resources to encode this alternation, making extensive use of both anticausative and causative morphology. I will discuss both patterns in detail, and discuss their implications for our understanding of the Austronesian Voice System and the overall Morphosyntactic Alignment of Takituduh Bunun.
